Surrendering to Life

Image
How do we sustain ourselves in times of change and uncertainty?                                                                                                                                                               Some of my followers would know about my challenges of late, so I'll share how I've come to this place now, of surrender.   Surrender doesn't mean weakness, or giving up. It's a space where you let go of pushing for an outcome, or wanting to know why, or how things will turn out. When my life made a roundabout turn, I had to remind myself daily to be so very present. I was called to trust once again in the divine plan of my soul, and accept what I was given.  In the early weeks of my unforeseen direction, I felt like a ship without a rudder. Isolated and alone.  Each person has their own life situation, so there are no rules. Finding what works for you is the key, whether you are still at work, grand-parenting, caring for someone, or ill. Th

Have I done Enough with my Life?

The title of this post has been sitting here for some time, and only this morning did I feel inspired to post something today.  Life nudged me! In the last two months I've relocated, been hospitalised, and now as I am regaining most of my vital juice, it is time to inject some into this blog! As I listened to Charlotte Campbell-Stephens this morning on our LIFE MATTERS  Radio National program, speaking courageously about her 7 year long legal battle for justice after her gang-rape experience in Kenya, and then expressing her joy at her educational work with women, and especially young boys, I thought to myself "No, I have not done enough!".  I CAN do more. When I read about the numerous acts of violence and torture of people as well as animals, and the rape of our planet, there is plenty for us to do. I can get more involved to help effect change for anyone, or animals, who experience violence or oppression.   Michael Gurian talks about my post topic in

A Blog Tour - Navigating The Writing Path, From Start To Finish

Image
Today I'm taking a creative diversion from my usual topics of discussion as I  was invited by the lovely  Asrael Zemenick , an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Karma Yoga Instructor and Jyotish Astrologer, to join a “Blog Tour” (sponsored by  Sheri and Carly at  IC Publishing - follow via #ICBlogTour).  Until now I hadn't really thought too deeply about my writing process, so it's been a n ideal opportunity for me to reflect on this. Here are my insights. How do you start your writing project(s)?   My writing projects - whether a post on my Blog or post on my FB business page, are always prefaced by an urging from deep within, an intuitive ‘flash’, or a response to something I’ve read or seen.  At other times I’m inspired by an article that I may have bookmarked for research purposes.  As I’m passionate about sharing my experiences, my ideas for creative and juicy ageing with other women, this is a motivating factor for me to write. I am inclined to flow from the academic

There’s a silver lining to going gray

Ladies...please enjoy your silver threads! I love that women world-wide are setting examples to their sisters that it is perfectly natural and very OK to allow their hair to grow into how it was meant to...with some or many strands of silver! It shouldn't even take courage. It is our natural birthright.   I'm glad I made the decision 3 years ago to stop poisoning my scalp, and I have grown to love my silvery-grey-black locks, with much encouragement from hairdressers to keep it this way. So that's how its going to be for me.  And how beautiful and chic our Sydney sisters are looking - Mary Kostakidis and Lee Lin Chin The following link describes how many celebs are enjoying their silver years... as model Cindy Joseph, 63, says "Mother Nature painted you, and made you unique"   http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/amazing-grays-today-hair-trend-article-1.1829439

Inhabiting the Sacred

Image
I have enjoyed a long Goddess pause from writing. I'm surprised that it's nearly 2 months since my last post.Where has the time gone, and what have I been up to? I fully believe that it's vital we engage in what feels sacred to us. What moves us out of our bed in the morning? I can't emphasise it enough that we immerse ourselves in joyful, meaningful and 'whatever makes your heart sing' activities and projects at this time of our lives. For me, there were two things I needed to soak up by mid year.  One was a long-held dream of visiting and experiencing the sacred heart of Australia, Uluru, or Ayers Rock as it is also called.  Though I only spent a few hours up close and personal with Her (due to tour constraints) I felt her seep through my body and bones. And I plan to return some other time and have a longer and very personal journey discovering more of her powerful, feminine essence.   And the other was to join an Awakening Woman Y

Five Tips for Juicy Ageing

Image
Feeling JOY, experiencing WELLNESS, and finding MEANING in your third chapter is essential if you want to live through these years with a sense of peace and purpose, and into your 80’s and beyond.   Although research has found that older people do tend to feel happier and less stressed in their retirement years than younger folk, it appears that this changes in their geriatric years when they can become very miserable.  I propose that we can greatly improve our chances of feeling HAPPIER in our later years by taking care of the transition ones in our 50’s to 70’s.  As one who knows, I offer the following tips. I BELIEVE THERE ARE FIVE KEY AREAS TO FOCUS ON   And if you feel STUCK in any area, don’t know the HOW to, or need SUPPORT to resolve the past, then please ask for help. You're never too old to hire a Coach to get some tips, or talk with an empathic Therapist if there are things from your past to let go of, like healing family wounds or unresolved grief.

Empathic elders – a way of life

Image
“Do not judge your neighbour until you walk 2 moons in his moccasins”    Cheyenne Native American proverb . In all my research over the years about creative ageing by authors or therapists discussing this chapter in our lives, I haven’t seen any mention about this topic of empathy, and its importance in our lives, and how much it is vitally needed at this time in contemporary society.   According to my research there seems to be a growing decline in the spreading of empathy. There is an empathy deficit. And this is playing out in our present political culture re asylum seekers and concern for those less fortunate. Roman Krznaric cites a study at one university in California showing that the richer one is, the less empathy is likely to be displayed. In between numerous cups of tea over the last few weeks I have been deeply engrossed in learning more about empathy. As a therapist, I learned, and improved upon my natural ability, to be aware of the importance of empathic

Embodying the Divine Feminine

Image
I feel as if I have been on a 2 month retreat into my feminine soul. But I am back. To talk a little about Her - the Divine Feminine, in our lives.   Two prompts inspired this topic. I recently contributed to a blog on what it felt like to embody the Divine Feminine, and the other was a comment by my friend, Kim Gould  who expressed that my home radiated femininity! It was interesting to hear this as I was not aware of how my home affected others, as it feels so natural for me to feel and express the Divine Feminine in my surroundings. So, what does YOUR home say about the woman who lives there? Does it support your sacred feminine essence? And can you see the presence of Mother Earth from your windows? But more importantly, how do you embody or express the Divine Feminine in your life?  Or if you aren’t into the Divine Feminine, simply, how do YOU nurture your feminine soul?  It may not come as natural to you and others because of possible unacknowledged grief
